In 1999, Tony Shelton watched air filter technicians haul out piles of dirty filters and wondered—why all the waste? After three years of testing, Electrostatic Filters proved to be the answer.

Sonitx started with residential filters, but the real challenge came in Las Vegas’ harsh commercial rooftop environments. A big-box store and a car dealership gave Tony his first break, and 26 years later, Sonitx is the leading Electrostatic Air Filter Company in the West.

In 2005, a customer paid $1,300 for coil cleaning, but Tony saw HVAC techs take the money without doing the work. That day, he brought coil cleaning to Sonitx. With experience dating back to age 12—working for his uncle and later as an Electrician’s Mate in the Navy—dirty work was nothing new.

Today his dream lives on through multiple divisions of Sonitx. The company he built has continually improved covering the entire West.  

During the pandemic, Sonitx’s Las Vegas division alone cleaned up to 20,000 coils a year, solidifying its reputation for quality and integrity.
